Internet Marketing - The proof

Here we intend to prove just how good we are by showing you a small sample of some of our recent success stories.

On the following pages are tables of search engine results for web sites that we have worked on for clients.

  • The first column shows you a sample of the keywords that our clients wished to be listed for and which potential clients can then type into the search engines when looking for companies that have product or services relating to these keywords.
  • The second column shows the position of our customers web site as listed on the search engine on the 27th August 2001. By clicking on the number or the keyword you can view a snapshot of our clients listing that the search engine produced on that day.
  • The third column shows you the amount of pages the search engine found in total. As you can see, some search engines manage to find millions of pages yet we still manage to be in the top ten consistently.
  • The final column tells you which search engine the results are coming from. If you click on these search engine links a window will pop up showing that search engine live and do a new search for the same keywords. You can then see if our listings have improved or stayed the same. This method of reviewing our success can be a little hit and miss as listings fluctuate up and down, for obvious and less obvious reasons such as.
    • The date we took the snapshot has long since passed.
    • Our clients positioning has improved as we did such a good job in the first place.
    • The client has authorised more work on the search engines and we have therefore improved their positioning.
    • Our client has dropped out of our monthly maintenance scheme usually because they are to busy and want less hits, (or the increasing hits to slow up) or because the hits are not bringing enough sales. There are many reasons why hits may not bring sales, not least of which is usually based on poorly designed web sites or poor business practices. Therefore when a client drops out of the scheme we no longer do the reports which help us maintain their positioning. Therefore their position will gradually drop down the listings as their competitors move up. Monthly maintenance schemes cost between £30 and £1800 depending upon clients requirements.
    • The search engine itself has changed its algorithm or the way it lists sites. This can sometimes have a positive effect especially if good practices were used in the way we originally put together our clients solution.
    • The keywords are competitive and other companies have spent more money or time on these keywords and have therefore knocked us off the top spot.
    • The client never paid their bill so we cast a few cyber spells or we started work for their competitors. :-)
